We had a wonderful time shooting at the lake yesterday, water was warm and critters free (I was sooo not looking forward to getting in a cold bug infested water lol ;) ) and the picture turned out amazing.

Here is one small sample, more from this set to come soon

It’s a great delight for me to announce that, after gracing the letters page of the comic’s #60 issue in January 2010 (please view pics below),  yours truly will be featured in issue number 61 of Tarot, Witch of the Black Rose, as a Broadsword Girl (out March 2010).  For the 10th Anniversary issue no less!! And to me, this is a helluva honor!!

Let me explain…

I’ve always been into comic books, and the day I got my hands of my first issue of Tarot, it was like a dream come true.. Not only the main character is a sexy redhead with curves to die for, but she is also a Witch, fighting  for harmony against the forces of prejudice & darkness. Plus the story is set in present time, which adds to my liking ;) .

Needless to say I became an instant fan,  thanks to Jim Balent‘s stunning art, as well as his quick, sassy and seductive writing style. As the author says,
the main message that Tarot teaches us is “Tolerance” and “Acceptance”. Be it racial, sexual or just acceptance of oneself, these teachings are throughout the books

Now, who can go wrong with such a beautiful formula? ;)

I’ve been asked several times if I had been used as a reference for Tarot, the main character..You know, the red hair, the big boobs and the Witch within.. I wish HAHA…But nope, Holly G, Jim’s beautiful wife, is the lucky model the artist draws his inspiration from.

I remember the first time I contacted Jim, me the young model, just starting out my professional Fantasy art Modeling career, to tell him how much I liked his style and his story.. I never thought he’d reply.. And when he did, I was surprised by the friendliness and approachable tone of his email. He gained all my respect that day, and we forged a friendship throughout the years. Just like Ariock and I, Jim and Holly work together, which made me feel closer to them in a way too.

And today, many years later, to be able to say that I am going to appear in my favorite comic book is a great honor. Not that I will be part of the story, (not right now anyways… cough cough Jim ;) LOL), but I am becoming a Broadsword girl, which is a great honor in itself (Independent, self confident women who are not afraid of their sexuality).

The Broadsword photo shoot was realized by Halifax photographer Brian Larter, click here for a  few previews of this awesome shoot :)

Now that’s what I call newsworthy!!

This was Brian and I’s first photo shoot together. And I must say that I was very pleased with the results. Part2 will be shot soon, involving a group shot of warriors and wenches…

Some of the pictures from this shoot will be featured in both January 2010 AND anniversary issues of Us comic book “Tarot, witch of the black rose” by Jim Balent, thus why I am only posting a few here ;)

Drakaina: Naughty or Nice…

The story behind the shootI wanted some Christmas pictures to send on my Christmas card (actual prints, not e cards), so I called Brian and asked him if he was interested. The concept was “So nice to be Naughty”, with a touch of Manga mixed with pin-up. The shoot went wonderfully, and Brian’s talent shines through out the pictures. It’s the second time we work together, and I must admit that I am totally smittened by his work.Whether it’s the lights or his angles, Brian’s style is very satisfying.

Needless to say much more photo shoots will come soon. Read More…
