Drakaina: a Fantasy art Muse

On May 22th, 2009, Drakaina hosted a launch/signing party for her first art book released in North America, “Drakaina, Fantasy art Muse”. Known internationally as the first Fantasy art Model from France, Drakaina has been a full time Muse and Model for artists all over the world since 2001, inspiring painters,comic artists, writers and poets, as well as a new generation of European models.

The book, authored by Drakaina, with artworks by over 50 fantasy, pinup and comic artists, is published by SQP and is the Muse’s second foray into the publishing world. She did it at the prompting of fans and to thank all the artists that saw her as a source of inspiration.

The publisher’s notes for “Drakaina Fantasy art Muse” read, “What is most important in the creation of art? The artist who creates, or the subject that inspires? To celebrate this delightful riddle, the model/muse/goddess Drakaina takes us on a guided tour of artists who have lovingly labored to translate her fire and beauty into works of their own talents. This unique look at artists from a model’s perspective, as she comments and revels in her adoration. Each illustrator takes a unique facet of this most alluring jewel of a woman, and shines it to a pure brilliance. The resulting gallery is a collection that reflects the many moods and visions of the Muse known as – Drakaina!“

The book launch took place at Halifax’s artistic community’s favorite spot, Aperture Studios and Brian Larter, owner of the studio was on hand to document the event.
