Launch party D-9 days..

You know what, I’ve come to realise that planning this launch party is a little (read much) like planning a wedding… Almost like a rehearsal for the big date (which is by the way unikely to happen in a near future as Ariock isn’t pro wedding hahaha)  ;)

First find a place where to hold the party… Something big enough that people won’t feel crowded yet not too big so that it won’t look all empty either… After looking around I decided on the Aperture Studios, first because I had a very good vibe from the place last time I had a shot there and also because the event being the release of an art book from a model it was very fitting.

Then the guest list.. Who to invite, do I go with just friends and loved ones, no .. can’t do that.. it’s a BOOK launch so, although I want to celebrate with the people that supported me as the book was coming along, I also ned to include business relations and the press to present the book to them. Now is everyone going to get along? Or , as in every wedding, is there gonna be a random guest acting up and make the event a night to remember for the wrong reasons – think aunt Bertha drunk out of her mind flirting with all the young guys or Grandpa picking a fight with a guest over some stupid topic on which he feels strongly.. lol (no i do not have those in my family but that’s how i picture it lol) So I had to make sure the people I invited to the event were people I loved and trusted and that they would all mingle nicely (not the easiest thing to do when you have so many various groups of friends, with different backgrounds and opinions and with only one thing in common: me ;) )

Then the money aspect (wedding: mom and dad, event: sponsors).. Now I don’t know about you but I hate asking for money as it makes me feel very uncomfortable (my parents raised me to be self reliant aka I could do what ever I pleased as long as I had the means to finance it myself..) As a result I always under estimate the amount of money I need to ask from sponsors/people and I end up paying most of it myself…Ha Ha maybe one day I will learn :p

Ok at that point, you have the place, the sponsors and the guests (still a little blurry on this last one as people for some reason do not really follow up as they should with the RSVP…therefore I can only have an estimate of attending guests argg) .

Next came the invites… Hmmm I used an online printing place, and guess what there is a typo on the invite… Incidently only one person pointed it out to me, my bouncer for the event (smart kid!!) Thing is, there was no time to fuss around with the printer company, send the invites and get some new ones made so I had to send them as is, hoping guests would laugh about it (with me ;) ) after the party ..

Hmmm on my limited budget (my fault as I said I didn’t ask the sponsors for enough money) what am I gonna feed my darling guests??? After toying around with several ideas, I decided for a cake (of  course), a candy buffet and some hot (read very very spicy) finger foods. Why?? Well, Ariock (which is also one of my sponsor) and I were discussing it and he said that the food should match my personality ..And since people describe me most often as being sweet or hot (not bragging, just saying lol) we went for that.. I am still figuring out quantities though.. What’s too much, what’s not enough?? Then again, it’s not a dinner it’s just so that people won’t get too drunk to fast haha.. ;)

And since I am also a big flirt, the signature drink of the evening will be the Flirtini (we’ll have virgin ones for the non drinkers too)

We are now 9 days from the party, I chose my dress (it’s a long white gown with black silk accents.. told you it reminded me of planning a wedding lol), I have my hair and tanning appointments (have to look good for the pictures hehehe), we are picking up the goodies on sunday, the books should be here by ups  tomorrow morning, and I am hoping to get the banner and the posters very soon too. How and my new business cards should arrive by the end of the day, I just hope it won’t be like for the invite hmm hmmm lol

The special guests (at a wedding you have entertainment too I believe ;) ) have confirmed their attendance I am pretty Xcited about that!!

As of today I am still trying to figure out the music part of the event… Budget is locked and dry.. Plus I don’t know what kind of music would agree with the attendance..As I said it’s a pretty mixed crowed and I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable because of the music… Plus I want guests to have fun.. So I am thinking the safest bet would be top 40ish, as it’s kind of neutral, plus it gets people in a dancing/party mood… So now do I get a DJ, do I plug an IPOD in the speakers.. Heck I don’t know lol

Argg only 9 days left and still so many little things to work on. I’ll keep you updated though :)
